individual and collaborative researches in multidisciplinary fields.

4. Institutionalizing the filing of IPR.
5. Providing an enabling research environment.

OBJECTIVES

General Objectives

The University Research and Development Center continually seeks to realize the vision of
becoming a research-rich university in Southeast Asia.
Specific Objectives:
1. Involve all faculty and students in research and increase staff’s involvement by 10% in 2020.
2. Increase number of researchers with track records (with publications in ISI/Scopus/CHED
accredited journals) to seventy (70) researchers.
3. Increase number of completed researches to 100 and the number of collaborative
researches to 45.
4. Increase linkages and external research grants by 10% and 43%, respectively.
5. Increase number of research publication in ISI/Scopus/CHED accredited/other journals by
15%.
6. Increase number of IPRs filed, registered and awarded to nine (9).
7. Increase number of technologies disseminated, packaged for commercialization and
adopted by end users to six (6).
8. Upgrading of existing personnel and hiring of two (2) additional research personnel.
9. Upgrading of R & D facilities and construction of state-of-the-art R & D building.

Monitoring and Evaluation

Researches are monitored through the University Research In-House Reviews which is done
twice a year by a Technical Panel. Moreover, quarterly progress reports are submitted by
researchers.

Risk Management

Through the regular monitoring activities and meeting with research coordinators, issues and
concerns are addressed to promote smooth and timely implementation of research.

     The University Research and Development Center (URDC) of West Visayas State University started the 2-day 40th Agency Research In-house Review on April 4-5, 2022 with a Theme: WVSU at the Threshold of Becoming a Research University: Lessons from Across the Globe.

Special Research
In-house Review

This year’s Special In-house Review, 30 complete researches in Teaching and Learning Initiatives, Poverty Alleviation/ Environmental Sustainability and Health and Disease Management Categories were presented last December 10, 2018 at the R&E Bldg, WVSU, La Paz, Iloilo City. Three (3) best research papers per category were recognized and awarded.

URDC conducts 33rd Agency Research
In-house Review

The University Research and Development Center conducted its 33rd Agency Research In-house Review last June 28-29, 2018 at the WVSU Research & Extension Building, La Paz, Iloilo City. The activity aimed to evaluate research proposals for possible funding; evaluate completed research reports and disseminate research outputs; recognize best research proposals and terminal reports; and assess the progress of on-going researches.

NVivo is now in WVSU

WVSU researchers attended and participated in the 2-day Training –Workshop on NVivo 12 Plus held on July 5-6, 2018 at the Research & Extension Building.  This was conducted by Dr. Nicamil K. Sanchez, Chief Executive Officer of the Philippine Consortium for Social Welfare and Human Development Research (PCSWHDR), Inc.  The workshop aimed to provide participants hands-on experience in operating the software.
